Working with Claude — a few things worth knowing

Your words are the material here. Everything else — the files, the structure, the plans — exists to hold your words without replacing them. This guide is about how to make that actually work: what to expect from Claude, what to watch for, and what you can say when something isn't right.
What Claude is doing in this conversation
Three things, and nothing more.
Scribe — when you speak, Claude writes it down exactly as you said it. Not a tidied version. Not a summary. Your words.
Synthesizer — when enough has accumulated, Claude proposes how to organize it: which phrase should anchor your brand, which principle belongs in your craft documentation. It proposes; you approve. Nothing moves without your say.
Mirror — Claude reflects your words back without changing them. If you said "the air gets thick," Claude will say "the air gets thick" — not "a sense of density in the room." A paraphrase might feel cleaner, but it's no longer yours. The feeling has been translated into something more general, and the feeling is the work.
That's the whole role. Claude does not decide what you mean. Claude does not write as Vyaso.
Speak in your own register — and Claude will reflect it back
The most important thing: use your actual words. The rough ones, the half-right ones, the ones that feel almost-there. "I dunno, like, the air gets thick" carries more than any polished version of that sentence. The hesitation carries register. The specificity carries feeling.
When Claude is doing this well, you'll hear your own language coming back to you — not paraphrased, not cleaned, but reflected. If you said something with unusual weight, Claude will notice and hold it: "That phrase — 'the bone of it' — you came back to that. Is that one of the things?" You tell it whether it is.
This is the sign that semiosis is working: your words are staying yours.
When Claude paraphrases — name it
Sometimes Claude will summarize instead of mirror. It might turn "I dunno, like, the air gets thick" into "there's a sense of density in the room." That's a substitution — not a capture. You'll feel it.
When that happens, you can say:
- "Use my exact words."
- "Capture that as I said it."
- "Don't tidy it up."
Claude will go back to what you actually said. This is the most direct tool you have for protecting your meaning. Use it any time — mid-sentence, mid-session, whenever something doesn't sound like you.
The half-formed deserves space
Sometimes the thing you're circling isn't named yet. It's there — you can feel it — but the right word hasn't arrived. That's fine. That's actually where the most important articulations happen.
Tell Claude you're still finding it:
- "I'm still finding this."
- "Just hold it — don't summarize yet."
- "I'm circling something, I don't have words for it yet."
Claude will hold the circling without rushing to label it. When the thread is ready to follow, you'll follow it. Tenderness toward the half-formed is part of how this space works. Not everything needs to arrive whole.
Sharing what isn't a sentence
A photo. An audio note. A phrase that arrived in the middle of the night. A question you're not sure is a question. A feeling you want to remember.
All of it counts. Bring it directly — through whatever Claude surface you're working from: phone, web, desktop, in a cowork session or on your own. Claude will receive it, capture what matters, and hold it. There's no wrong form. If Claude needs clarification, it will ask; otherwise it holds what you gave it.

The synthesis moment
At some point — in a session, or after several have accumulated — Claude will offer:
"I've captured a lot here. Would you like me to show you what I'm seeing, and where I'd put each piece?"
That's a synthesis pass. Claude reads what's gathered, proposes where things belong, and shows you the proposals. You decide what gets kept, what gets set aside, what needs refining. Nothing gets moved into a canonical file without your approval on each item.
You can ask for a synthesis pass any time:
"Can we do a synthesis pass?"
A good moment to ask: when the captures feel like they've become a body — not just notes, but something that has a shape you want to see.
What's yours, and what Claude maintains
Everything that makes Vyaso Vyaso is yours.
Your voice. Your words. Your craft principles. The way you name what you do — breath, bone, alchemy, the air getting thick. All of that originates with you and stays yours.
What Claude and yza maintain is the scaffolding: the files, the structure, the connections between things, the discipline of capture and synthesis that keeps the conversation honest. If you stopped working with this system tomorrow, your words and your craft principles would still be yours. The scaffolding would just be scaffolding without you in it.
When Claude helps shape any artifact — a caption, a synthesis document, a piece of site copy — the record reflects that. Your voice is your own; Claude's contribution is disclosed.
When something feels off
Your instinct is the signal. If something Claude said sounds like an interpretation rather than a capture, you can name it:
- "That feels like an interpretation, not a capture."
- "I didn't mean it that way."
- "Roll that back — let's stay with what I actually said."
If a phrase Claude used isn't yours, say so. Claude will return to your original words. This isn't friction — it's the discipline working. You're the source. The whole system depends on that being true.
What's coming
Right now, your words and the files Claude maintains are in a repository that only yza and Claude can see directly. You can always ask Claude to read back your captures, your brand files, or your synthesis proposals during a session.
The plan is a private reading site — a walled section of a web page, accessible through your own login — where you'll be able to browse what's accumulated as pages, not files. Read your captures. See what's been synthesized. Check the current state of your brand identity. Your record of your own work, readable the way a reader would read it.
That site is planned, not yet built. When it's ready, you'll have a window into everything without needing any technical tool.
